Have you heard about capoeira? This 500-year-old Afro-Brazilian art form was developed by slaves who used dance and music to disguise the fact that they were practicing martial arts. At Evolve Miami Team, we keep the rich culture and history of capoeira alive in North Miami and the greater South Florida region through classes (for kids, teens, and adults), workshops, performances, and events.

Who is Evolve Miami Team?
Evolve Miami Team began operating in Miami in February 2020, and we opened our own space in May 2022. Soon we will be hosting the first Vadeia Miami Capoeira Conference, a weeklong event taking place in March 2023, dedicated to elevating our capoeira practice, amplifying awareness about capoeira throughout the local community, and exploring the wonders our hometown has to offer. We will be bringing in master teachers from across North and South America, and we are anticipating more than 150 participants from South Florida and around the country.

Event details
We are located in North Miami within the ADAPT fitness and wellness complex, at 14901 NE 20th Ave. Throughout the week, we will have multiple workshops each day led by special guests, focusing on instruments, singing, dance, acrobatics, strength and power, business strategy for capoeira instructors, and more; daily tours around Miami to showcase our vibrant area; and nightly rodas - opportunities for capoeiristas to put into practice all that they have learned, so called because of the circle (wheel, rueda, roda) in which the game is played.
Saturday, March 18th, from 10am to 4pm, will be the main event, including workshops, performances, and the “batizado” - an initiation for new capoeiristas and graduation ceremony for our students.

Over centuries, capoeira has taught us a lesson that became especially important over the past few years: to survive, you do not necessarily have to be the fastest, strongest, or most talented. Survivors are those who adapt and grow. We can’t wait to host our first major event in North Miami.
