Our first event in Miami
Our event is finally here, and I’m really excited. This one will be so special. It’s the first event for Evolve Miami Team, and it will be big!

What is a capoeira batizado?
A batizado is a graduation ceremony where new students receive their first capoeira cordão, after playing with visiting masters. This is a “baptism” when you are officially welcomed into the art form of capoeira. This is a very exciting time in a capoeirista’s journey.
The batizado is usually celebrated with a whole weekend of events, with invited guests and participants from other capoeira groups.
This allows students to experience different aspects of capoeira and Brazilian culture, and to make new friends. Students play capoeira with the guest teachers and receive their new capoeira belt.
Level up your belt: Troca de cordão
The first belts are considered “aluno,” or student, ranks. When the student has solid foundations in the basic movements, acrobatics, music, history, culture, and language of capoeira, they are ready to go to the next level.
Advanced students continue to progress through several instructor-level ranks, each of which carries a specific title.
Requirements
For our kids program, there are no specific requirements in terms of capoeira movements or techniques for students to advance to the next level. We simply want the kids to enjoy their capoeira journey and to continue to grow and develop as healthy and happy human beings. Time training consistently is the most important consideration for each belt level. After the first belt, students need to train consistently for at least 10 months to advance to the next level.

Important: We plan to start on time, so please arrive at least 30 minutes before the first workshop to check in. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will not be allowed to join class.

The event is located in North Miami, close to Biscayne Blvd, within a gym complex called ADAPT. When you turn off 151st St, the gym is the big white building on your left, past the open grassy area. When you enter, ask the front desk to direct you to the capoeira studio. The Evolve academy is located at the back of the gym on the 2nd floor.
